Devotion
Adventureland – Sept 13
- Will have DVD’s available for handout
- Come is you can and wear your YSFC shirt
- Will be giving away 130 t-shirts
- Will be giving away a $159 certificate to come to YSFC.
DVD commercial
- Done by Sept 1
- Will not mail one to every church. It was decide to mail a poster to all churches and have a tear off for a DVD request.
- The DVD commercial will be posted on the website for people to download.
Scripture for the weekend
- 1st John 1:7
Review schedule from last year. Schedule for 2009 will be very similar. Jim will work on the final schedule.
Registration challenges
- Two types of registrations, one with hotel and one with no hotel room.
- Hotel room option is Early bird $159, Regular $189
- NO hotel room option is Early bird $129 , Regular $159
- Hotel lobby is being used by another group this year. Will need to find a different place for registration.
- Suggestion was made for the people who sign up for the NO room option to register at the Polk county convention center.
On Line registration: Like to have it but not this year.
Free time
- Inplay option
- Science Center option
- Inflatable's. Jim getting quote on them. Also will pay $200 for volunteer group to setup, run and tear down. This way core team does not need to be used.
- Handout of other places in Des Moines, i.e. mall
Scholarships
- Meat team to do. Melissa will be the person in charge and will work with Eric on it.
Broke into committees
Design Committee
- They are going to make some road signs for the event. They will be aluminum and will give them away.
- Small group road signs. Design team is going to make the signs
- Stage layout will be the same as the last time at the Polk County Convention Center
Publicity and Facilities
- Working on food
- In charge of supply list
- Registration, as mentioned above, the hotel lobby is being used by different group. Need to work with the hotel to find a location for registration.
Entertainment Committee
- Looking for entertainment yet. Need to fill 2 time slots. One before noon on Saturday and one for Saturday evening.
- Jared is MC
- Will do big group games again. Need to really work on this to make sure it works for a large group.
- Dance / Movie again. Come prepare to vote on a movie at the next meeting.
- Make a list of songs for the dance and send them to Bob Morris
- Will sell glow necklaces and bracelets
Meat Committee
- Scholarships
- Small group leaders, plan on recruiting 40 to 60 leaders.
- START recruiting now!
- Small group leader material by Oct meeting.
- Redesign small group leader registration.
- Training for small group leaders is being worked on.
- Melessa and Jordan are main contract for small group leaders
- Need to have an adult session on what the youth have been learning in the small groups so they have idea what to do with lessons youth leader will take home with them.
- Chapel will be in 2 of the meeting rooms downstairs in the convention center.
- Adult session will be in the 2 room next to the chapel.
- Mission project. Need change machine.
